Color Panels For Slimming…

Who doesn’t love a good optical illusion? I mean as ladies we frequently use them to our advantage so that we can get the upper hand on all sorts of beauty issues — slimming the waist, contouring the face, and so much more!

My dress here combines cleverly placed black panels and you guessed it POLKA DOTS!

There has been an increasing trend in the last couple of years to create slimming lines in dresses through strategically placed panels of dark color or inserts of color to create the illusion of curves. These dresses are fantastic on like three different levels!

1. Obviously, they are quite slimming… the black panels on the side basically take weight off of you…

2. The placement of the color panels and lines can add curves or accentuate the ones we’ve already got.

3. These dresses are actually quite modest and therefore, work and church appropriate BUT still totally fierce!

This is a trend to get behind and invest in at least one nice dress that does this for you. Calvin Klein has made some nice ones. The one I am wearing at the top is from Vince Camuto. My mom and I got it on super sale at Nordstrom Rack, which like Marshall’s is home to the hit or miss phenomenon. You have to go in there open to the experience and hope that something speaks to you! Last night, for me — it was these sick gold arrow earrings that I will probably be rocking at the Beyonce/Jay-Z concert in a few weeks.

Anyway, embrace color paneling and get looking sharp!
